Veteran Physical Therapy in Austin & San Antonio, TX

Therapy Designed Around the Demands of Military Service

Military service asks a lot from your body. Years of carrying heavy gear, intense physical training, and high-impact work take a real toll, and many veterans are still managing those effects long after their service ends. Chronic joint pain, back problems, and mobility challenges are common, and they deserve more than a generic treatment plan.

At Outcomes Therapy, we understand this firsthand because our practice is veteran-owned and operated. That shapes the way we approach care. We take the time to understand your history, listen to what you're dealing with, and build a rehabilitation plan that actually fits your life and your goals.

We regularly help veterans manage:

  • Chronic Back Pain: Persistent back pain is one of the most common conditions we treat, and our therapists are experienced in addressing it through targeted strengthening, hands-on manual therapy, and movement retraining.
  • Knee Pain and Joint Degeneration: Years of physical demands can wear down joints over time. We help restore function and reduce pain so you can stay active.
  • Shoulder Injuries and Rotator Cuff Issues: Whether you're managing an old injury or recovering from recent surgery, we'll build a plan to help you regain strength and range of motion.
  • Balance and Mobility Challenges: We use hands-on techniques and targeted exercises to improve stability and help you move through daily life with more confidence.
  • Neurological and Functional Limitations: For veterans experiencing neurological challenges that affect movement and independence, our team can provide coordinated care across therapy specialties.

Post-Surgical Rehab at Our Physical Therapy Clinics

Expert Post-Op Rehabilitation to Help You Recover

Surgery is a major event, and what happens in the weeks and months that follow matters just as much as the procedure itself. Without the right rehabilitation plan, patients often take longer to recover, lose more ground than they need to, or end up back where they started. Our therapists are experienced in post-operative rehabilitation and work closely with your surgeon's recovery guidelines to make sure your plan is structured, safe, and built around your personal goals.

We frequently provide rehabilitation following:

  • Knee Replacement Surgery: We guide you through the full recovery process, from early mobility work to rebuilding strength and getting back to the activities you enjoy.
  • Hip Replacement Surgery: Our therapists help you regain safe movement patterns and independence after hip replacement, whether you come into the clinic or we come to you.
  • Shoulder Surgery and Rotator Cuff Repair: We'll restore strength and function in your shoulder at a pace that's right for your recovery, not a one-size-fits-all timeline.
  • Spine and Back Surgery: Post-surgical back rehab requires a careful, structured approach, and our therapists are experienced at helping patients progress safely through each stage.
  • Fracture Recovery: Getting back to full function after a fracture takes more than just waiting for the bone to heal. We help you rebuild the strength and movement you need to feel like yourself again.
  • Tendon and Ligament Repair: We support patients through the full arc of recovery after tendon or ligament surgery, from early-stage rehab all the way to returning to activity.
  • Other Orthopedic Procedures: If you've had a procedure that isn't listed here, reach out to our team. We're experienced with a wide range of orthopedic surgeries and recovery needs.

PT, OT, Speech Therapy & Wound Care in One Place

Our Comprehensive Therapy Services

One of the things that sets Outcomes Therapy apart is that we offer multiple therapy specialties under one roof. For patients with complex or overlapping needs, that means you're not being shuffled between providers. Our team can coordinate across disciplines to make sure your care is consistent and connected.

  • Physical Therapy (PT) Focused on restoring movement, strength, balance, and mobility through personalized exercise programs and hands-on care.
  • Occupational Therapy (OT) Helping you safely return to the everyday tasks that support your independence, from getting dressed and cooking to managing your home.
  • Speech-Language Pathology (ST) Supporting patients with communication challenges, cognitive function concerns, and difficulty swallowing, which can be especially relevant after certain surgeries or neurological events.
  • Wound Care: Advanced treatment for complex or slow-healing wounds, including those that can develop during post-surgical recovery.

You can receive care at our Austin or San Antonio clinic, or take advantage of our in-home therapy services. Our mobile therapy team comes directly to your home or preferred location, which is especially helpful for patients who've recently had surgery or veterans with limited mobility. In-clinic care is our priority, and our in-home program is already well-established so that patients who need it can count on consistent, expert care in a setting that works for them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to start therapy at Outcomes Therapy?

Most civilian patients and retired military family members can schedule directly using their health insurance, just like a typical provider visit. If you're a veteran hoping to use VA Community Care benefits, you’ll need a referral from your VA provider before we can begin services. Active duty service members also need a VA referral to access therapy through VA Community Care.

If you're not sure which pathway applies to your situation, just give us a call, and we'll help you figure it out.

How do VA Community Care referrals work?

To receive therapy at Outcomes Therapy through VA Community Care benefits, you'll need to request a referral from your VA primary care provider or care team. Let them know you'd like to be referred to Outcomes Therapy for physical therapy (or occupational therapy, speech therapy, or wound care, depending on your needs). Once your VA provider submits the referral, our team will reach out to schedule your evaluation.

Providers and care coordinators can also send referrals directly to our office by email at intake@outcomespt.com or by fax at 512-355-1966. We're happy to answer any questions along the way.

How do I schedule an appointment at Outcomes Therapy?

Scheduling is easy. You can request an appointment online through our website, call either of our offices, or email us at intake@outcomespt.com. If you're a referring provider, you can also submit referral documents by fax at 512-355-1966.

Our team will follow up quickly to get your evaluation on the calendar and answer any questions about the VA referral process, insurance, or in-home therapy options. We look forward to supporting your recovery.
